RAD Experience Drift Demo

RAD Experience had a drift demo at the Walt James Stadium of Willow Springs International Raceway on July 21, 2012 for Speedway Willow Springs.

The event is mainly a race for stock cars. RAD Experience were invited once again to do a drift demo.

Before the main event, the fans and spectators had a chance to meet the drivers and check out the race cars.

Our sponsors,  Nissan of Valencia and Big Johns Tires and Performance have goodies for the crowd. We gave out bags, pens and even t-shirts from one11ink!

Here Jager Patalano and his friends from one11ink distributing t-shirts.

After meeting up with the fans and spectators, time to replace new tires for the demo.

There were several crashes before we hit the track.

After the track was cleared, we were asked to do our thing.

We also had a raffle to have ride-alongs during the demo.

And here is David, one of the winners who got the chance to go shotgun in one of the RAD Experience Nissan 240sx.

The track is really rough that makes it not easy for the tires. After several laps, there were sparks from the tires of Ryan's drift car.

The drift demo ended when Ryan popped one of his rear tires.

After the demo, the race resumed.

These drivers were pretty aggressive. You will see a lot of bumping and grinding.

Thank you to our sponsors, Nissan of Valencia, Big Johns Tires and Performance, Lavish Salon and Spa, and for one11ink.

Bergenholtz Racing Says Goodbye to Joon Maeng

Bergenholtz Racing release an official press release on July 3, 2012 that they are letting go Joon Maeng as their driver. See statement below.

Maeng got a phone call from Ron while preparing to drift in Las Vegas. A lot of messages from fans were posted in social media like Facebook and Twitter.

[Update] Joon will make an official announcement soon for his future plans for 2012 Formua Drift.

Bergenholtz Racing and Joon Maeng Part Ways.
Effective immediately, Bergenholtz Racing and Joon Maeng have both decided to part ways. “Though we both gave our blood sweat and tears to achieve podiums, we still couldn’t get the formula right. In our quest to win, we realize that change must occur and sometimes that involves tough decisions. It is with great heart-felt regret that this has to happen but I believe it is the best for the future of Joon and our team.” Said Ron Bergenholtz, Team Manager of Bergenholtz Racing.

2012 Top Drift Round 2

Just Drift's Top Drift rd 2 was held at the Horse Thief Mile track of Willow Springs International Raceway at Rosamond Calif on May 27, 2012. Top Drift is one of the grassroots drifting series that allows Professional-Amature (Pro-Am) drivers to get a professional license for Formula Drift if you win the series.

Ryan Fadera of RAD Experience and a lot of local and out of state drivers participated. This round filled up the track and around 50 drivers competed to qualify for Top 16 to battle for tandem drifting.

Charlie Ongsinco, founder of Just Drift, said that if the same number of drivers or more will participate next year, then they will adjust the qualifying results to Top 32 instead of the traditional Top 16.

There were a lot of good drivers and the weather is perfect for a fun-filled drifting competition. As usual, there were some unfortunate drivers who experienced mechanical failure. And there were drivers who were drifting good during practice runs but during qualifying messed up their drifting lines. It might be the pressure of knowing that you have to"Go Big or Go Home" during qualifying.

At the end of the day, Tyler Wolfson took 3rd place, Dan Brocket finished 2nd place and Forrest Wang took first place. Congratulations to all the winners!

Here are some teaser pictures and more pictures to follow. Click here to view the full gallery.

See you guys at Top Drift Round 3 on July 28, 2012 at the Streets of Willow, Willow Springs International Raceway at Rosamond California!

Just Drift's 2012 Top Drift rd 1

Just Drift had its 1st round of Top Drift for 2012 on March 25 at the Balcony track of Willow Springs International Raceway. There was a good amount of attendance of drivers, spectators and fans.

There were a lot of good drivers who were getting good runs during practice.

They were all set and tuned for the day.

Drivers getting good angles and giving out smoke.

But some drivers like John Batel had car issues even before qualifying runs.

There were a lot of different platforms for this round. It varies from stock KA to V8's.

I believe that there is only one car on this round who drifts with a 4-door, Cressida.

But as the practice runs were almost over and qualifying runs was about to start, it started to rain.

That made the qualifying runs more interesting.

The qualifying runs were so unpredictable that a lot of drivers who were doing good during practice were spinning out on their qualifying runs since they were all tuned to drift on dry pavement.

Overall, the season opener of Top Drift was a success. Congratulations to George Kilada (1st place), Dan Giraldo (2nd place) and Dan Brockett (3rd place). We can not wait for the next round! (Photos by: Richard Fadera)
