There was a good amount of drivers that showed up and a lot of spectators and media were present to give love and support to grassroots drifting.
The weather was great and the day started with tech inspection and driver's meeting. Then the drivers were given practice runs before the qualifying runs.
After the qualifying runs, the judges: Formula D driver: Michael Essa, D1 driver(soon to be formula D driver): Fredric Aasbø (Norwegian super star drifter) and AZNDOC: Jack Hsu, decided the top 16 drivers.
The top 16 drivers battled with tandem drift. At the end, David "Hammy" Hamburg took 3rd place, Chris Licup 2nd and the Socal Drift Series Round 3 winner, Luke Pakula.
626DRIFT gave $500 for the first place winner. DTC Performance $300 in tire and service for 2nd place
and Desert Tow gave $150 cash for the 3rd place.
The event ended early and there was still time for team tandem competition. There were several teams who joined for the 3-car tandem competition and team Slide Assassins won.
Overall, the event went well with some drifting actions specially during the team tandem.
Congratulations to all the winners. Thanks to Gary of SoCal-Drift.com, all the sponsors and 626Drift for hosting SoCal Drift Series Rd 3. Can't wait for the final round!!!
